    Commonly painters first draw and focus on the solid shape or positive space of the object, called it as positive space painting. There is another style of painting called negative space painting, instead of painting the central object paint is applied the surroundings first. Drawing the background and leaving the object white

    Negative space is the space between objects or area of an image not occupied by shapes. This part of the drawing is often neglected, or filled with casual scribbles.

    Drawing the outline, then shading is not help you achieve the objective of the negative space drawing, it is something more than a simple silhouette. Understand the shapes and spaces around an object are highly creative process. Seeing negative spaces correctly is a skill worth developing. Studying this can have a surprisingly positive effect on a painting.
